Recycling revisited once more
Friday, February 9, 2007, 08:23 AM
There is still some confusion on the new recycling program. I found out recently that some of our streets have alleys that are too narrow for the automated trucks to go through so they are not able to get the blue carts for the new program. But they still can recycle, and they have it even better because the city will pick up their recyclables every Friday in the blue bags placed in the area where their regular garbage is put. So if you have had problems with the city getting you a blue cart, that may be the reason. At any rate if you would like to speak with the operations manager of the recycling program, call Gary Middleton at: (214) 671-1388. I hope this helps. ---Jay

City of Dallas RECYCLING PROGRAM
Wednesday, January 31, 2007, 09:14 PM
New Dallas Recycling

The city of Dallas has introduced a new cart program in hopes of increasing the recycling effort of residents. The city has delivered the new “Big Blue” roll carts designed to hold all household recyclables without sorting! As of January 2, 2007, the city has started the twice-monthly pickup of recyclables in carts and/or bags. Our schedule is the Friday A days starting on the 5th. You should have received a schedule from the city by now. If you prefer, you may continue recycling with blue bags (or clear bags) which will be picked up on the same every other Friday dates. Even though the new containers are free to residents you must contact the city to receive one. The easiest option is to access the city web site at www.dallascityhall.com, click on the recycle option, the directions are easy. You can also call 311 and request the Sanitation Department. Or the direct number to the recycling department is: (214) 670-4475.

In the new system there’s no need to separate! Just put everything into the same Big Blue cart and place it out for collection on the appropriate Friday.

Recycle these non-hazardous items:
Glass (all colors), Plastics #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, & #7, newspapers, magazines, junk mail,
telephone books, steel, tin, aerosol & aluminum cans, flattened chipboard & corrugated
cardboard.

Currently approximately 24% of Dallas residents recycle. The city hopes the new program will raise the average to over 50%. Dallas is making it easy for all of us to help the environment and the overcrowded landfills! This program will also benefit the city cost wise.

LTNA general meeting
Friday, January 26, 2007, 11:38 AM
Hello Neighbors,

A friendly reminder from what we put in the January newsletter:

LTNA will be having it's general meeting this Tuesday night, January 30th, 7:00PM at the Frankford Townhomes (18110 Marsh Ln. (corner of Marsh and Frankford on the northeast corner.)). We will be in the clubhouse meeting room right as you drive up through the gates to the complex from Marsh. This will be your opportunity to vote for new officers for our neighborhood and let us know your preferences on priorities. We will also be having some great pizza and soft drinks so we hope you will make it a priority to be with us. Absentee proxy voting has now concluded so if you want to vote, we need for you to be present to do so. Current or last year's members are eligible and you can pay your dues at the meeting as well. Dues are only $50 per year per household.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you at the meeting. --- Jay
