If I am concerned about a crime or a potential crime in LTNA what should I do?
For life threatening situations requiring an ambulance, a fire engine or the police call 9-1-1.
For all other non-emergency calls such as reporting stray or noisy animals or missed garbage pick up, all you need to do is call 3-1-1 and report the incident.
3-1-1 is the City of Dallas´ system to handle non-emergency requests for service. 3-1-1 is an easily remembered telephone number which immediately links citizens with special call takers who can help them with anything from potholes and stray animals to speaking at a City Council meeting. 3-1-1 provides access to City services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round.
Report all suspicious behavior to 311 and the LTNA neighborhood Crime Watch Hot Line at (214) 967.
If you keep cameras handy and happen to record criminal activity in progress, DO NOT show the photographs to anyone, especially if there are juveniles involved. Doing so would “taint” the pictures as evidence and would prohibit them from being used in a photo line up. After taking a picture of a possible crime, call 911 to report it and obtain a service number. Ask Dispatch to have the responding officers speak with you after investigating the situation and inform them that you were able to obtain some photographic evidence.
